Sand Storm

The term “sandstorm” is commonly used often to relate desert sandstorms, especially in the Middle Eastern Countries, or regions where fine sand is the most prevalent soil type, than solid dirt or rock, termed as “Arid” or “Semi-Arid”, where fine particles, in the range of 80 to 2000μm, can be seen visibly, concealing the visibility, due to a substantial amount of noticeable sand particles are floated in air, at ≤2meter elevations, due to wind movements, ~25 to 45km/hr.

Situation

The term dust storm is commonly used when much finer particles , in the range of 0.01 to 1um are blown long distances at 2m to > 10m, even up to 10km, elevations due to wind movements, ~15 to 20 km/hr.

Solution

Considering the above, the fresh air intakes for “Arid or Semi-Arid” ambient are often challenging compared to the ones designed in other regions.
